ASUU postpones NEC meeting indefinitely over Iyayi’s death

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Wednesday suspended indefinitely its National Executive Council meeting over the sudden death of its former national President, Prof. Festus Iyayi who died in a fatal auto-crash along Lokoja – Abuja federal Highway Tuesday.
Prof. Festus Iyayi ,66,  died after the vehicle he was travelling in had a head-on collision with a security vehicle attached to the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Ichala Wada at a  village near Lokoja.
Iyayi was on his way to Kano for the National Executive Council meeting.  National President, ASUU, Dr. Nasiru Fagge told reporters in Kano…

We are compelled to postpone this meeting in the light of the sudden death of one of our strongest pillar who died yesterday. As you can see for yourself, we are mourning the departure of this great scholar and you would agree with me that in this circumstance we cannot look at issues objectively. This is great loss to the entire country.
