Mercy was said to have made the entire widows and the people of Uromi visibly joyful.
The actress was able to achieve this through her Mercy Johnson Okojie’s Foundation, which is geared towards helping towards the improvement of less endowed people and women in the society. Each widow of over 5000 received a bag of rice, 6 yards of super print, a bag of salt, groundnut oil, tin tomatoes and maggi cubes.

END TIMES: Son Says Why He Killed Mom, Yanked Her Guts

A 22-year-old man reportedly killed his mother with a knife and yanked her intestines out because she "ruined his life."

The tragedy happened on Thursday. Local Police responded to a home at 131 Rattling Valley Road around 1 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from the victim's ex-husband.
Robert Owen Rankin, the victim's 22-year-old son, was arrested and charged with murder.
A 45-year-old victim was identified as Margaret Rohner. Reportedly Rankin confessed the crime to his father and then to the first state police trooper who arrived at the site.
"I used the knife to kill my mother," Rankin told the trooper after the trooper asked if he had any weapons on him. "I killed my mother because she is pretty much responsible for everything that has gone wrong in my life," he allegedly told the trooper.
The man narrated his story in details, sauing he woke up in the morning with a plan to snap his mother's neck to kill her, but when that didn't work, he stabbed her in the neck with a fire poker, according to the police report.

A cow with five legs has been hailed a miracle because when pregnant women touch its fifth hoof they give birth to baby boys.

Raj Pratap’s three-year-old male calf, called Raju, now is a star in Raipur, India, since a woman with four daughters touched the animal’s fifth hoof and begged for her next child to be a boy.
The woman delivered twin boys in February this year, word soon spread that the calf’s fifth leg. Raju's anomaly  a very rare condition which affects just one in every five million cows.

Since news got out about the fifth leg, Mr Pratap, a cattle herder, has been swamped by pregnant women who pay to touch the hoof with 30 women so far stumping up around 500 rupees, around £5, for the privilege.
All the 30 women delivered boys. The owner of the cow is so confident of his ‘miracle calf’ that he offers refunds if the baby born is a girl.
On December 23, the cow celebrated its 33rd victory, after the woman who touched its ‘magical hoof’ gave birth to triplets….all of them boys.
It should be pointed out that in India boys are ‘more valued’ than girls as they have ‘greater earning potential’ to support the family.

2014: FG To Maintain Presidential Jets With N1.52Bn - Punch

The Federal Government has budgeted N1.52b for the maintenance of the 10 aircraft currently in the Presidential Air Fleet in 2014.

The maintenance cost is slightly higher than the N1.5bn proposed as the initial deposit for the purchase of additional aircraft that will bring the number of aircraft in the fleet to 11.

This is apart from the N747m earmarked for the purchase of aviation fuel for the aircraft already in the fleet.

Wole Soyinka's second daughter, Iyetade dies at 48

Iyetade Soyinka, the second daughter of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has died aged 48. Ms Soyinka, formerly Iyetade Apampa, died at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.

TRUE! Taxi Driver Finds Huge Money Left Behind In Back Seat And... Returns It!

A Las Vegas taxi driver has been hailed for his honesty after returning $300,000 in cash found in his cab to the rightful owner, the Las Vegas Sun reported on Tuesday.

An unidentified passenger left a bag full of cash in the taxi's back seat early Monday after a successful night of gambling. The back was soon discovered by Mr. Gamboa.
The driver's employer, Yellow Checker Star Transportation, later rewarded the cabbie for his rectitude by giving him a $1,000 bonus and a dinner out for two,. Moreover, the man was named company's driver of the year, according to the newspaper.
It was not clear whether the owner of the cash would also reward Gamboa.
The cabbie could not immediately be reached by Reuters for comment, and his company did not return phone calls. City police declined to comment on the incident.
Gamboa picked up the cash-toting man early on Monday at The Cosmopolitan hotel and drove him to the Palms Place, where he received a $5 tip, he told the newspaper.
Reportedly at Gamboa's next stop, a hotel doorman at the Bellagio discovered the bag in the rear of the cab, and thinking it contained chocolate left behind by a passenger, moved it from the back seat to the front passenger seat.
When the driver stopped at a traffic light, he checked what was inside the bag. Upon discovery of money Gamboa immediately called his dispatcher to report the find.
Using hotel records, the cab company tracked down the passenger, who arrived at the company's office in sweats and a T-shirt - but without any identification.
The local police provided assistance in verifying the man's identity, after which the cash was returned to its owner, who happily shook Gamboa's hand and promised to reward him at a later time.
"If he doesn't give me anything, that's OK," the honest driver told the journalists. "I'm not waiting for any kind of return. I just wanted to do the right thing, and I appreciate what the company did for me."

Iheanacho Makes Man City Transfer Stalls

FIFA U-17 Best player winner Iheanacho has opted out of a transfer to Manchester City because he will only get cash in January 2015.
On signing for the English Premier League millionaires, Iheanacho is to get 250,000 pounds, his father will pocket 350,000 pounds, while the Taye Academy in Owerri will receive 300,000 pounds.
According to mtnfootball.com, the most valuable player of the recent U-17 World Cup in the UAE signed a contract with City at the weekend after passed a medical in Madrid, Spain, with City chief scout Gary Worthington in attendance.
However, both he and his father, James Iheanacho, who accompanied him to Spain, were shocked to learn that they will not be paid any cash by the EPL side till January 2015, when the youngster would have clocked 18.
This has now forced the Iheanachos to explore the possibilities of the boy opting for Portuguese champions FC Porto, who have also tabled an offer for him and were at a time favourites to land the highly-promising forward. His mentor at Taye Academy, Kennedy Echenwere, said the Eaglets star is currently in Lagos and has decided to follow his heart and join FC Porto.

Stop Reckless Scaremongering – President Jonathan to National Media

Several national media sources quoted President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as saying at a Christmas church service in Abuja on December 25, 2013, Wednesday that “terrorism has come to stay”.

Dr. Reuben Abati, the Presidential special adviser on media and publicity, blasted the authors of such articles for “completely untrue and a mischievous” representation of the President’s remarks.

President Jonathan’s verifiable remarks at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp Abuja were to the effect that in comparison with some other countries which have experienced the scourge of terrorism, Nigeria has made remarkable progress in dealing with the security challenges posed by terrorism and insurgency.

Headlines such as “Terrorism Has Come to Stay” and “Insurgency Far From Over – Jonathan” are therefore most incongruous with the thrust of the President’s remarks and amount to taking extreme editorial liberties with his comments at the church service.

It is apparent that in their indecent haste to cast the most sensational and negative headlines, some editors never paused to consider that it would have been most absurd for a President whose administration has done so much to reverse the tide of terrorism, to publicly assert the contrary.

While speaking at the Church where he worshipped, along with members of his family, his aides and some Ministers, President Jonathan only pointed out that whereas terrorism remains a global challenge and a source of continuing concern in some countries, Nigeria has done comparatively better in reducing the incidence of terrorist attacks within its borders to a “reasonable level”.

Interpreting those remarks, which are clearly in tandem with facts available to all objective observers of Nigeria’s war against terrorism, as an expression of defeat or helplessness, amounts to reckless scaremongering which can only serve the purpose of needlessly instigating fear among the populace and bolstering the confidence of criminal and unpatriotic elements.

Once again, we urge the media to eschew undue negativity and join hands with the government to patriotically promote peace, national security and political stability.

The war against terrorism is very winnable and President Jonathan’s administration is steadily winning it in Nigeria. The Federal Government, the Armed Forces and national security agencies will continue to build on the successes they have achieved so against terrorists, insurgents and their sponsors.

Christmas Parade Went Wrong As A Gay Dance Team Performed (VIDEO)

The all-male, all-gay dancing group, called the Prancing Elites, was invited by organizers to perform at the Christmas parade last week. It did not go well.
The group’s style — known as “J-Setting” — is “a highly stylized modern lead and follow style of hip hop dance, characterized by cheerleading-style sharp movements to eight-beat count music.” Their moves are typical of what you’d see from a high school dance team or cheer squad. (Think: Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” video.) The difference is that the Prancing Elite are men, and they wear clothes typically associated with women.
Their performance did not go over well with the locals. The group heard plenty of jeers (“Oh my god, what’s that?”) as they strutted their stuff in midriff-baring Christmas sweaters, snug white shorts, and plenty of make-up. The post-performance reactions weren’t much better, according to AL.com:

Within hours, members of the community in Semmes, Alabama called parade organizers and posted on social media, most of them in shock. At least one woman demanded an apology, saying she had “never been so insulted” in her life. Others wrote that they were disgusted and children should not have been exposed to the dancers.

A woman interviewed in the news report below — as she clutched her child, of course — was “outraged and appalled” at the performance. “Many in the crowd thought the dance group was inappropriate,” she explained. “If they were going to put this kind of activity in the parade, they should have notified the people of Semmes so that we had a choice whether we wanted our child to attend and see something like that."
